Villager Visitors in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Datamine says so!
Oh hey, remember that exciting January 2021 content plan we talked about a few weeks back? As you may or may not know, January's just about over, and we've seen basically none of that. If that sounds alarming, we think there's no reason to fret just yet: Nintendo might be cooking something massive for the end of the month!
Everyone and their mum knows by now that we're big fans of datamining. Well, it just so happens that one of the latest Animal Crossing datamines talks about the big January 2021 update, too. According to sources, the update ought to drop any day now, and there are two big features coming with it.
New Horizons: Ceiling Furniture & Village Visitors
Animal Crossing newcomers might not know, but one of the key features offered by previous AC games that are nowhere to be found in New Horizons is that villagers could actually visit player houses when they felt like it. This - as you can surely imagine - greatly improved the general feel of the game world. It was just more lived-in, if that makes sense, and it gave the villagers themselves a bit more oomph. This was one of the big reasons some players were a bit disappointed with New Horizons at first.
Thankfully, datamines have shown that this will soon become a feature in New Horizons, too. This revelation came about after data miners discovered unused dialogue in the game files, which suggested visitations coming down the line.
The second major addition that's also been datamined is ceiling furniture. Coincidentally, this was also a thing in previous Animal Crossing titles, only for ceiling furniture never to appear in New Horizons since the start. Now, however, we know for sure that this unique kind of furniture will be making its was to New Horizons at last. This means ceiling fans, light fixtures, and a whole slew of other snazzy items we'll be able to decorate our houses with.
Are Villager Visitors and Ceiling Furniture coming with New Horizons January Update?
The big question, now, is if these two major additions are coming with the January Pavé update, or if they're something that we should expect further down the line. Our guess is that they're coming with this month's update, but we've been wrong before.
One thing we know for sure won't be coming to Switch anytime soon is 4K 60 FPS support for New Horizons. What if you could see what that would look like, though? It was just recently that we came across an incredible rendition of just that, so be sure to check it out when you catch the time!
