Animal Crossing: New Horizons January 2021 - New Content & New Critters

It's finally January 2021, and you know what that means for Animal Crossing: New Horizons! New critters to catch, new content to figure out and have heaps of fun with! Following an extremely positive end of 2020 - for AC: New Horizons, at least - it's hardly surprising to see Nintendo wanting to continue their streak of success. From what we can tell, chances are that they'll do so with no problem whatsoever.

Since we're only just a week into 2021 at the moment of writing this, however, there's not much in the way of news just yet. We do have a few ideas on what might happen before the end of January, but we'll get to that a bit later on. First things first, let's deal with stuff you can immediately interact with. New critters! Albeit only for the Southern Hemisphere, because the Northern Hemisphere isn't getting any new critters to catch at this time.

New Horizons: January 2021 Southern Hemisphere Critters Update

As AC veterans will know, there are several different types of critters to chase after. For brevity's sake, here we'll separate them into two section: bugs and water critters. That way, you'll have a categorized overview of all the Southern Hemisphere critters you can catch at the start of 2021. Handy!

Animal Crossing New Horizons January Events

In other, more all-encompassing news, it seems like Pavé the Peacock will finally be making his way to New Horizons this month. Scheduled for "late January", Pavé's entrance will likely mark the Festivale event, which is essentially a carnival of sorts.

Historically, Festivale has been a time when players get to earn Candy and/or Feathers to spend on Pavé's unique set of blue-clad furniture. It's a particularly snazzy set that we've very much looking forward to snagging when Festivale finally hits. Aside from that, we do anticipate for there to be some sort of gameplay activity related to Festivale, though we've no idea what that might be. A mini-game of sorts, perhaps? We'll see, anyhow.

Far more tentative than Festivale is the Super Mario Crossover Event, which is bound to be coming... sometime. Sources point towards March, but don't go quoting us on that. Once the Super Mario event hits, we'll get a batch of Mushroom Kingdom furniture and Super Mario customization options, which is pretty darn cool. A Tanooki suit, perhaps? One can hope! We still know precious little about this event, however, so you'll need to stay tuned for a while yet.

Don't forget to update your New Horizons wardrobe, either!

Like always, ACR has got your back when it comes to fashion! Now, sure, it's no Super Mario clothing, but we've got literally hundreds of awesome custom clothes for you to check out and download whenever you feel like it. All you need to do is to head on over to our AC Runway homepage and see what fits, if you'll excuse the pun!

We're always adding more streetwear and high-end fashion items to our library, so check in from time to time and upgrade your style in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Have a grand start of 2021, and stick with us for your weekly updates for Animal Crossing and Nintendo projects in general!
