Animal Crossing: New Horizons 4K 60 FPS? Here's what THAT would look like!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 4K 60 FPS might be unattainable to Nintendo Switch, but that doesn't mean we can't dream... In fact, we'll even go a step further with you today, thanks to the wonders supplied by SnazzyAI. This Youtuber is known for his penchant to upscale and convert scenes popular games and films to higher resolutions and framerates.

Now, we're not going to say that playing Animal Crossing on Switch at 4K and 60 FPS is ever going to be a realistic thing to expect. Nintendo Switch is a wonderful console and all, but... 4K 60? Not happening, ever. That's precisely what makes the video you're about to watch a fascinating exercise. According to SnazzyAI - who really does deserve your attention - New Horizons' art style lent itself perfectly to their AI resolution uspcaler. On top of that, the AI framerate interpolation did a phenomenal job. Fair warning: it might be hard to go back to regular 30 FPS 1080p New Horizons after watching this video...

Watch Animal Crossing: New Horizons run at 4K 60 FPS!

Amazing, isn't it? If you're interested in watching more awesomeness of the same kind, you'll be happy to hear that SnazzyAI has plenty more where that came from.

They had previously worked on 4K 60 FPS renditions of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Super Mario 3D, and even Star Fox Zero, among other things. Be sure to drop by their channel and check their videos out when you get the chance!

What are the odds of Switch Pro playing Animal Crossing at 4K?

While there have been numerous rumors about a purported Nintendo Switch Pro console that would, theoretically, be capable of running games at up to 4K resolution, we're not putting much stock in that. Specifically, it's the "4K" part of the rumor that doesn't mesh with us. No matter how 'Pro' a refreshed Switch gets, there's no way it would be capable of running games at a 4K resolution. Now, do keep in mind that the current Switch console runs them at 720p or 1080p (docked) with dips where necessary, so even a more stable 1080p experience would be a massive improvement across the board. Having said that, we should keep in mind that it's Nvidia who supplies Nintendo with Tegra GPU chips for Switch. The same Nvidia that's investing heavily in AI upscaling via DLSS technology. So... we suppose there's some merit to that idea. Time will tell, though, as always.

Our take, though, goes in a different direction. We'd hope that Nintendo would focus more heavily on framerate improvements, instead of visual fidelity alone. That's where Switch suffers the most in high-profile triple-A titles, after all, and it'd be amazing if developers could provide a better experience after porting their titles to Nintendo's hypothetical latest and greatest console.
