Hottest New Streetwear of the Week: July 12th - 18th
Concentration seems to be in short supply this week. We don't know about you, but the whole thievery hubbub in Animal Crossing and the release of Halo 3 and Death Stranding on PC somehow managed to get the best of us! There's the usual work that needs to be done, but now it's been compounded upon by exciting video game releases, too! Times sure are tough... but we've got a bit of a breather in store for you today.
As part of our hottest new streetwear of the week showcase for the week of 12th - 18th of July, we've got four usual suspects. From Levi's to Palace, these drops will leave you breathless, sure enough, and there's more! You may or may not be aware, but Prada had a major showcase earlier this week. Part of the latest online rendition of the Paris Fashion Week, we'll have a bit to share about Prada's latest endeavor.
Let's get to it!
Levi's x Peanuts Link-Up: Summer 2020 Collection
A dash of nostalgia to begin with? Sure, why not! We chose the latest (and arguably greatest) team-up between Levi's and Peanuts for our weekly showcase simply because it's an incredibly successful and desirable collection of clothing! The quality of Levi's with the style of Peanuts? Come on now, you can't expect for these drops NOT to get featured anywhere and everywhere in this day and age.
The collection features a staggering array of items, ranging from reversible bucket hats all the way to tracksuits and football T-shirts. It's supposed to be going live sometime this week, though we haven't been able to find concrete information on the specific timing just yet.
If you're interested, check out Levi's official website for more information, and if you're close to our age, let nostalgia overwhelm you for a quick bit. It's Peanuts, for goodness' sake!
Palace Tri-Tex Tees: Final Drop of Summer 2020
Over the past two weeks, Palace drops have been a mainstay in our weekly streetwear summaries! For good reason, too, because you just can't beat an awesome T-shirt with an even awesomer design printed on it. Palace's final capsule of streetwear for the season is well in-line with their previous offerings. You've got your usual selection of sleek and snazzy graphics printed on T-shirts with colors that will definitely pique interest. Mustard yellow and sky blue are our personal favorites, we think!
The kicker is that the capsule will launch as an online-only release via the official website, on the 17th of July. The collection will feature T-shirts only, so those who are looking for more extravagant items might wish to look elsewhere! And whaddayaknow, we've got a bit of extravagance just here...
Vinne Art Vapor95 Cyberpunk Collection
As cool as cyberpunk might be, we wouldn't want to live in a world ruled by hyper-conglomerates and corporate interests, where human life is worth less than that which they can produce. Oh, wait, what? Sounds oddly familiar, doesn't it? One of the upsides of fictional cyberpunk universes is cool clothing, though, and it's not like we're all wearing neon-blazed trenchcoats on a daily basis (sadly). But hey, the latest Vinne Art Vapor95 Cyberpunk Collection may very well be the dash of cyberpunk you've always been looking for!
If you visit the official collection website, you'll notice that it's got a variety of tees, hoodies, bomber jackets, and even blankets to choose from - all of which sport classic Vinne Art designs smack-dab in the middle. For those chasing after a tastefully edgy look, these will serve perfectly.
RHUDE's SS21 Collection - Everyday Essentials
Dubbed as "the new essentials for a modern man," the latest RHUDE SS21 collection is a bit different from most of the streetwear we feature here. In fact, it's arguably not streetwear at all, taking inspiration from the likes of Carey Grant and Paul Newman instead: veritable pillars of classic style. Staples, if you will.
This collection of stylish items won't be going live anytime soon, granted, but we were a bit taken aback with how interesting the items were, and simply had to show them early on. Who knows - they might even pop in among our Animal Crossing codes this Sunday!
You can check out the full collection over at RHUDE's official website, where a digital lookbook has been prepared - courtesy of the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. And now that we're on the topic of PFW, have a smooth segue into the next bit we've prepared for your consideration!
Prada's Lockdown Showcase
Standing in remarkably stark contrast (ha) with the rest of our picks for this week, Prada's offerings are minimalist and classical - true to the brand's long-standing pedigree. The first thing you'll probably notice is the remarkable variance in form and utility that Prada is going for.
The showcase featured both casual-smart dresses and lithe long-coats; both classical formal wear and athletic jackets. We're not sure what, exactly, did we expect from Prada, but it certainly wasn't as wide a gamut of clothing like this! This is a good thing, mind: the theme of the show was to posit the question of why we wear the clothes we wear, and we reckon Prada did what they set out to do. A remarkable feat, and a bit of a statement in and of itself.
Naturally, the stuff showcased here by Prada won't be for everyone, but we definitely are curious about which of the collections' features will make their way into the mainstream. Who knows what the future might hold!
Wrap-up!
We hope you've found this weekly summary helpful and informative! If nothing else, you at least have a good sense of the kind of stuff you'll be able to get for your Animal Crossing avatar come Sunday! Don't forget to check out our pick of the awesome Gucci codes we've got available for download. Why miss out on badass swag, right?
One last thing to note with this week's summary is that the legendary Paris Fashion Week has been going online this year, courtesy of the ongoing Coronavirus craze. The experiences have mostly been positive so far: "This season will definitely have changed the fashion industry moving forward, especially for smaller brands, as the digital avenue can get them bigger visibility, by being on-calendar," said Jessica Michault, one of the most prominent American fashion journalists around. "Either brands will go large at giant venues like Louis Vuitton or go small and cull the guest list with fewer guests. Or go digital. Nothing beats being at a fashion show, sitting on the front row and seeing the clothes up close, but something’s going to have to give."
It's still too early to tell what this means for the fashion industry at large, but much like virtually everything else nowadays, things are a-changing. Stay tuned for more awesomeness here at AC Runway!
