Animal Crossing New Horizons Update 1.3.1: Thieves and Bamboo!
The release of Animal Crossing Update 1.3.1 hasn't been quite as seamless as Nintendo must've been hoping it would be. We'll get to the admittedly short patch-notes in a bit, but know this: if you found stuff to be missing off your island since 1.3.1 hit, chances are that thieves got ahead of you!
It's not all frightening, though, because this week also brought about the Tanabata bamboo celebration, affording players an opportunity to get a unique new item off Nook! Get strapped in for a rather eventful weekly overview of Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
Animal Crossing Update 1.3.1
Having launched on 9th of July, Animal Crossing New Horizons Update 1.3.1 isn't quite as big of a drop as last week's release was. This small hotfix was deployed primarily to address a few standing issues that players reported, and as such, wasn't really supposed to make waves in any way that matters. Here's the changelog!
- Addressed issue where players could not properly use a zen bridge or red zen bridge placed on top of a cliff (third tier).
- Addressed issue where a wet suit would not be available for sale within Nook’s Cranny.
- Addressed issue where hermit crabs would appear in places other than the beach.
- Addressed issue where a dialogue bubble would improperly appear after speaking with island residents.
Basically, Nintendo was merely looking to polish up any problems that might remain following the release of the Swimming Update. This is great on its own, but players have since begun to report items disappearing off their islands...
Thieves in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Just when we thought we had seen it all... word has it that other players can now suddenly turn up on your Animal Crossing island and steal everything that's not nailed down!
Here's what the users have to say: "[players] can just change to the swimwear, jump off the pier, and swim up the shore to get around the fences. After stealing or causing whatever mischief, the stranger can press the - button to “leave quietly” from the island." You'll probably recognize that this isn't very nice... however, with the loophole in place, it goes without saying that some players will use it for all its worth!
"This has severe consequences to traders," said the same user on ResetEra. "I think Nintendo should really issue a patch to disallow players from being able to jump off the airport pier into the water, and in the meantime, island owners might want to keep a look out on potential signs of people who are looking to cause mischief (eg arriving or changing to swimwear upon island arrival)."
We hope you find this information useful, and that you take precautions not to lose valuable resources to thieves in Animal Crossing! Good luck!
Tanabata Bamboo Celebration!
Back to happier topics, if you haven't yet had the change to log into New Horizons, you may be happy to hear that Nintendo has prepared a special Tanabata bamboo celebration to coincide with the Japanese festival. It's a lovely festivity where players have the opportunity to get the titular bamboo from Nook for a moderately substantial sum of 3080 Bells. Granted, it shouldn't break the bank, but do plan your purchases accordingly! In any case, if you were looking for something fun to do in New Horizons this weekend, there you have it!
It goes without saying that you should also take a few minutes to check out what sort of new streetwear we've got in store over at AC Runway!
