Nintendo Announces Three Major New Events for Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

It wasn't long ago that we assembled a handy list of all the major events coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, though, with Nintendo getting ready for the game's major May content update, we've finally received a few tidbits of information on how the next couple of events will pan out.

Don't forget: Nintendo has already changed a few things around for this year's Bunny Day - for the better. This means that we might be in for a number of changes for other seasonal content, too.

Down below, you'll find all the information that Nintendo has shared about the up-and-coming New Horizons events, alongside some conclusions we've drawn ourselves. Don't dawdle: get informed instead!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Upcoming Events in May and June

As we already mentioned, there are three major events coming as part of Nintendo's plans for New Horizons in May. Namely, these are the following:

  • May Day: April 29 - May 7
  • International Museum Day: May 18 - May 31
  • Wedding Season: June 1 - June 30

Now, none of these are entirely new. We had seen them not only in previous Animal Crossing titles, but also in New Horizons itself. We'll have to wait and see if Nintendo's pushed out any changes for these events for 2021, as they've only offered a tentative overview of what we're to expect.

Don't forget that we'll be getting a bunch of cool seasonal items during the entire months of May and June, too. There's Mother's Day, Cheese Rolling, and a bunch of other short-term events to be looking forward to.

Now that that's out of the way, here's what we know about the three major happenings so far.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons May Day 2021

Kicking off in just a few short days, on April 29th, New Horizons May Day is the traditional yearly labyrinth event, and one of the more engaging seasonal happenings overall (in our book).

Basically, players will have a one shot per character to travel to the special labyrinth Island where they'll need to make their way towards the center of the setup.

This is going to be our chance to snag the unique Rover's Briefcase furniture item, as well as a number of Bell vouchers, which will bolster our in-game bank accounts with a fair amount of Bells per voucher.

Of course, since you only get one chance to figure things out, it's a bit hectic, but great fun all the same.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons International Museum Day 2021

The International Museum Day is a special New Horizons event where players meet up with Blathers the Owl to collect an assortment of unique stamps. The so-called Stamp Rally will equip us with a unique stamp car that we'll then use to view all sorts of fish, insects, fossils, artwork, and more as the main progression loop for the event.

Last year, players could only participate in one Stamp Rally every day, with the goal basically being to explore everything that the Museum has to offer.

The only rewards we got last year for successfully wrapping up the Museum Day celebrations were the three Museum Plaques: Fossil, Fish, and Bug. We don't know yet if Nintendo has got more rewards planned out this year, but we're sure we'll find it out in due time.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wedding Season 2021

Finally, the Wedding Season event is all about photography and aesthetics, as Reese and Cyrus make their way to a unique Island to celebrate and renew their marriage vows yet once more.

This event tasks the players with assembling the perfect picture setup for Reese and Cyrus, and then using the earned Heart Crystals to buy a huge number of exclusive items and furniture.

Namely, there's a whole assortment of wedding-themed furniture, objects, and clothes to choose from, but there are also three unlockable items to collect:

  • Reese & Cyrus Photo Plate
  • Wedding Fence
  • Wedding Wand

Now, of all three events mentioned here, we believe that the Wedding Season is least likely to get any upgrades this year around. Mostly for the reason that it's got the most items to earn and unlock, but also because it's a pretty comprehensive, well-rounded event.

The Museum, on the other hand, could play host to a virtually infinite number of upgrades, an we're hoping that Nintendo makes good use of its potential.
