New Horizons Super Mario Update Details: Everything We Know!

New details about the upcoming New Horizons Super Mario Update have finally surfaced, and just a few days after we posted our own take on what might (or might not) be coming in the near future.

We also have a proper release date, no joke! This major content update is set to launch in just a couple of days, and we though it might be a good idea to prepare a short primer on what's coming an what's not. Spoiler: some great things are making their way to Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

The majority of these items were announced as part of Nintendo's recent Direct episode, so huge thanks to good people over at Nintendo for the news. Another huge thanks goes over to the official Animal Crossing subreddit for originally compiling it all together.

New Horizons Super Mario Update Release Date - February 25th

That's right - we're getting a lovely injection of Super Mario - and friends - to our islands in New Horizons, and it's coming on February 25th. We hope you've cleared out your schedule, too, because it's going to be a chonker.

Not only are we getting loads of new clothes and furniture, but a number of new features have snuck their way in, too. We'll explain below!

New Horizons Super Mario Update - Content List

Four full clothing sets! We're getting all four major Super Mario characters, though we were hoping to finally see Bowser make an appearance in Animal Crossing, too. Regardless, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario are sure to freshen up our islands by a fair bit.

For reference, we're getting:

• Mario 4-item Clothing Set
• Luigi 4-item Clothing Set
• Princess Peach 3-item Clothing Set
• Wario 4-item Clothing Set

What's really interesting about these sets, though, is that they're slated to get some sort of special properties, presumably allowing for unique interactions with certain Super Mario items and furniture.

It seems like all-new Mario items will make their way to Nook Sopping after March 1st. Find the comprehensive list of everything we've seen so far below:

That's a lot, isn't it? But wait, it gets better! Putting down pipes will let you warp from one end to the other, if you've already placed two of them down. Further, if you lay down more than two pipe ends, the game will randomly warp you from one to the other! Definitely not something we expected to get out of a relatively unassuming Super Mario event.

We're also getting three more Seasonal Item Events

You heard that right: three awesome new events will be coming during March. Find all the details about them just below!

• The Girls' Day: February 25th - March 3rd - introduces the Girls Day Doll Set and the Bonbori Lamp
• Pi Day: March 1st - March 14th - introduces the Pi Day Pie
• St. Patrick's Day: March 10th - March 17th - introduces the Shamrock Rug, Shamrock Door Plate, and Shamrock Soda items

You didn't think Nintendo would miss the chance to hype more goodies up for the future? Well, this time they've teased none other than Brewster the Pigeon, who may well be the next fan-favorite character to make his way into New Horizons.
