Animal Crossing IKEA is happening! Check out the official catalog!

In most respects, a fully-fledged Animal Crossing IKEA collaboration is basically a dream come true. We'd be the first to jump on the opportunity to feature all sorts of awesome furniture right here on AC Runway! Sadly, New Horizons doesn't offer any such functionality as it stands. Truth be told, it does seem a tad complex to implement, all things considered.

That said, fantasizing is fun, and IKEA Taiwan does seem to agree! Their most recent furniture catalog comes in two formats, you see. One is standard IKEA fare, while the other basically rebuilds the original showcase sets in - you've guessed it - Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This all sounds well and good, but you might be wondering: how close can you really get with New Horizons' admittedly limited furnishing options? Turns out, pretty darn close! To the point where, at a glance, it's even hard to tell which is which! Check out an example:

The key lies in a clever use of color and outline, wherein the original furnishings and those from New Horizons generally fit the bill of similarity, though they do differ quite a lot when you give them more than a passing glance.

It's impressive, though. Takes a keen eye and a good sense of space to turn what could easily be a drab and uninteresting virtual space and make it into something this awesome. Here's the rest of the pages, for your consideration!

All the text is in Mandarin, of course, since these pics do come from the official IKEA Taiwan FB page, but we're sure you'll get a good sense of what the designers were going for. It sure gave us a pretty good idea of what we should do with our own Animal Crossing rooms and houses!

Combine these layout and interior furnishing ideas with some in-game artwork and you'll have impressive living spaces in Animal Crossing in no time at all. Of course, getting enough Bells to actually bring these ideas to life might be tricky. Thankfully, you could always get into the Turnip marketplace, if you've got some capital to invest!

As we said before, we'd be ridiculously happy if Nintendo were to find a way to include fully customizable furniture into the game, but that's as complex an idea as any. There's a pretty major difference between altering the textures of simple outfits and building 3D objects from the bottom-up. Who knows, though! Perhaps some of the new and upcoming indie games will give Nintendo ideas for innovation? Time will tell! In the meantime, we'll get back to hoarding sofas!
